I began diving in the early 2000s, starting with whichever local dive shop offered an Open Water course. Following that, I immediately enrolled in an Advanced Diver course. Years later, I became a dive professional, first as a Dive Master and then as an Assistant Instructor. It was during my journey towards becoming a technical diver that I realized how little I actually knew as a diver. This realization opened up numerous questions for me, which is part of what inspired me to start this blog—along with the countless questions I asked my mentors.

I am also a veteran with eight years of service, and I retired from a career where continuous training was essential after completing the initial required courses. Because of this background, I’ve always viewed certification courses as just the beginning of learning the basics. After that, it’s up to you to work on becoming proficient in your skill set. I have applied this mindset to my diving, and I intend to share it with you through this blog.

As operators often say, the first rule of operating is to look cool, the second rule is to know what you’re doing, and the third rule is if you don’t know what you’re doing, refer to rule number one.
